Mr. Byrne’s interests are film and television production, history and criticism. He teaches lighting/cinematography, motion picture and television production and national cinema courses. His research interests include Irish and Eastern European cinemas. He has been teaching at TCNJ for more than twenty years, prior to which he worked as a production designer and producer on many theatre, television and film projects in New York, London and Dublin. He holds a Master of Fine Arts degree from Carnegie Mellon University. Books include Production Design for Television (Focal Press, Boston and Hanul Press, Seoul) and Power in the Eye (Scarecrow Press).
